Samsung Mobiles, a new giant in smart phone market around the world – recently announced about bringing Android Gingerbread version 2.3.6 for their Galaxy Ace S5830 in India. It’s nice to see they’ve not forgotten a low-cost smart phone in an effort of reaching more heights.
Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830, is one of the best mid-level Android powered handset which was available at as low as Rs. 13,900/- is now priced at Rs. 14,040/- – a slight increase in its price.
Android 2.3.6 update was primarily released for few bug fixes including
- Voice search issues
- WiFi hotspot functionality issues on Nexus S phones in Canada
Galaxy Ace can be updated to this version through Samsung’s proprietary software Kies 2 on Windows or Mac. You may not see this immediately through Kies for some users as Samsung is rolling out this update in batches to users… so, keep checking and you should see it soon.
This fixed version was released by Android community in September 2011 but since Samsung uses added layer of it’s TouchViz UI – hence, it usually takes time for making device specific OS upgrades and make them public.
Galaxy Ace S5830 is full featured low-cost phone comes with 3.5 inch screen, 800 MHz processor, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, and 1350 mAh battery. It does not have a front camera & does not support video calling. It had a battery drain problem but earlier Gingerbread 2.3.5 update seems to have fixed this issue on many handsets.
Samsung also released a full pure white version of Galaxy S recently which is also available at the same price.
