In two recent incidents of attempting to publicize their smart phones, Nokia and BlackBerry mistakes iPhone and Android for their own smart phones .
Nokia, in one of their advertisements is showing a woman talking on a phone which is not a Nokia phone but an iPhone. Apparently the photograph used in it, is a stock photograph available on iStockphoto website.
Though it is unclear whether, this advert was created by a local business person. If it wasn’t then, I am sure the guys responsible for both entities – the agency and Nokia management – must have had an unpleasant weekend(s) after the revelation.

In another incident where RIM created a BlackBerry fan video showcasing their latest touch phones, it clearly shows in one of the shots that device is not BlackBerry. They have used an Android device while superimposed a BB logo on it. This was obviously not a pleasant thing to go public hence RIM removed that video from getting worse publicity. Thanks to Engadget for keeping the copy of the same video available. Check it out.

Well, advertising mistakes like these are not new but – those professionals should pay an extra attention to the prop details – if they really want to keep their jobs upbeat & intact.
What your take? Seriously funny? 🙂
