This is a guide for beginners on how to change WiFi settings like IP Address, gateway, and DNS servers in case existing connection are not connected or if you have to reconfigure the same due to changes made by the Network administrator. It’s very easy. Simply follow the steps on your Galaxy Tab or through a similar interface on your Android Honeycomb device to troubleshoot WiFi connection issues.
Step 1: Go to WiFi Settings page on your device
Step 2: Tap and Hold the WiFi connection you would want to change
Step 3: Choose from the options pop-up.
- Forget network: Use this option if the connection settings on the main router / modem are modified by the administrator and your device is not accepting the changes. (Restart your device before reconnect)
- Modify Network config: Use this option if you wish to change the IP address, Gateway or DNS servers for your WiFi connection. You can also use this option to shift from DHCP to Static or vice-a-versa to match with your network settings.
Step 4: Save and Exit.
Hope this helps. The same process of changing WiFi settings like adding a static IP address works on almost all the Android mobile phones or tablets.
