We have heard about the Samsung Galaxy S4 earlier and heard a lot of buzz about Samsung bringing waterproof and dust-proof variant for their flagship model to compete with Sony Xperia Z – which was the only high-end smart phone offering these luxury features. Samsung now has officially announced Samsung Galaxy S4 Active I9295.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Active I9295 can be submerged in water up to 3 feet deep water & can stay there without any harm for up to 30 minutes – making it a perfect companion for nature lovers, said the company.
S4 Active features the same hardware specifications of 1.9GHz quad-core processor, 5inch TFT LCD screen, 2GB RAM, 8MP / 2MP cameras, 2600 mAh battery as that of original along with all the other software features of Galaxy S4

This newer phone was earlier designed to the IP57 certification standards for water resistance, but seems like the company has decided to go one step ahead with a more finer & detailed IP67 certification for improved water & dust resistance.
Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZR use IP57 and IP58 certifications.
Please note that – IP stands for International Protection against ingress of solid foreign objects and harmful ingress of water. The highest level is IP68.
Surprisingly, the Galaxy S4 Active also features three popped-up hardware buttons instead of the soft-touch buttons found on most of their recent smartphones. It would be interesting to see how the Galaxy S4 Active responds when competing with Xperia Z as most of my friends have already picked Sony over Samsung this time.
