The reports are coming in from confirmed sources of inews24 – a South Korean publication – revealing some details about the launch date of Samsung’s next flagship model, the Samsung Galaxy S5. This new phone will be showcased during MWC 2014 which is taking place from February 24 to 27, 2013 in Barcelona.
It will be Samsung’s only second launch of a popular Galaxy series phone after launching Galaxy S2 in any large public event such as Mobile World Congress. The company launched all other phones through independent launch events worldwide.
According to inews24; the vice president of Samsung’s design team Mr. Dong-Hoon Chang hinted about new materials being used with newer design & possible use of flexible material on the Samsung Galaxy S5. This latest model will appear with the code-name “Milky Way Galaxy S5” & will mark its launch almost a month earlier than Samsung Galaxy S4, which was released on March 14, 2013.
However, Galaxy S5 is more likely to have two major models; one high-end, which will have Aluminum finish & other will have plastic material, both with a curved glass & not have any wraparound display. It will perhaps feature a flexible material, similar to LG G2. The high-end model with an Aluminum finish is rumored as Samsung Galaxy F.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 will feature same size display as Galaxy S4, new 64-bit Exynos processor, 2560 x 1440px resolutions on AMOLED display, 3GB RAM, 16-megapixel main camera.
We have seen the curved phone body in previously showcased Samsung Galaxy Round, but it received a lot of criticism from many about the design being less useful & on the other hand, LG Flex was in receipt of lots of praise for the more appropriate curved-design.
There are a few different possibilities on, how the Samsung Galaxy S5 would be in appearance since different materials are under review as told by Samsung’s design head. In all cases, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has to stand tall in terms of its overall design & it’s going to be a challenge for their team; especially after the release of LG Flex. The new phones from all manufacturers will always keep up with faster processors, GPUs, memory. Its design & utility will make them stay ahead of the game within the dense (and growing) competition worldwide.
We’ll keep posted about the Galaxy S5 in the next few weeks. Stay tuned.
